What is Intramurals?
Intramural sports or intramurals are recreational sports organized within a particular institution, usually an educational institution, or a set geographic area. The term, which is chiefly North American, derives from the Latin words intramuros meaning “within walls”, and was used to describe sports matches and contests that took place among teams from “within the walls” of an institution or area.
The purpose of Intramural Sports programs at Tonaquint Intermediate is to provide students with wholesome and healthy activities that promote sportsmanship, integrity, and cooperation. We strive to provide an opportunity for all students regardless of ability to recognize the joy and satisfaction that comes from participation in fitness and athletic programs like Intramural’s. Our focus is to teach students the benefits of remaining physically active throughout their lives.
Tonaquint Intramurals are played during lunch times (1st & 2nd lunch) during each of our trimesters (3) during the school year. Some sports are coed and some are girls vs. girls and boys vs. boys. The winners of each lunch will play each other during a school assembly at the end of each trimester.
Current sports we play are Flag Football, Basketball, Volleyball, and Soccer. *Sports are subject to change.

You may only play on one team. If a player is absent during the day you play a game, you may substitute him/her for another player as long as they are not currently playing on another team.
